The Week After Haul out
T’was the week after haul out, the docks were all in
We planned winter maintenance; some brightwork and paint’n
The boats were all nestled, all snug in their cradles
While we inspected our masts, and looked for worn cables
The execs were approving work hours submitted on-line,
so refunds could be sent to those who put in their time
The season is gone – nothing left but recollections
But we’ll see each other again, at the coming elections
We’ll gather and vote, but not for politicians
Instead this time now, it’s for executive positions
A Commodore, a Vice, we need Social, and Race,
House ‘n Grounds and Harbour Master to help run this great place.
All positions are open, all terms are one year
If you want to step up – there is nothing to fear
And if that’s not enough – well, that is not all
Soon after we’ll have, the Commodore’s Ball
I hope to see you soon, and to all I do beckon
Come out for elections, this November twenty-second!
To clarify my poetic prose:
Please submit all work hours by next Friday, November 9th. We will tallying up the totals so we can have the final numbers ready for the next GM.
Speaking of the next GM – our next general meeting is Thursday, Nov 22nd 7:30 PM at the clubhouse. The November GM is an important one as this is when we hold our annual elections. All positions are up for re-election, but there are a few positions that will have no incumbent. This is a great time to show your support for the club by helping to run it. Talk to to any current (or former) exec if you’re curious what this entails.
Finally, the Commodore’s Ball will be on Saturday Dec 8th at the Globe Bistro at Broadview and Danforth. Tickets will be $35 per person. Cocktails will begin at 6:00, and Dinner at 7:00. This is the last official APSC event of the year. There will be great food, some prizes, and of course all your friends will be there. RSVP by Dec 1st.
See you all on the 22nd!
