Flooding and Closed Clubs
Hi all,
The high lake levels are continuing to rise, and will pass even the levels seen in 2017. They are expected to reach the maximum in about 2 weeks, but until they recede, there are a number of things to keep in mind:
- Dinghy compound and parking lot is now flooded, beach partly flooded. Bring boots
- Gas cans in gas shed are starting to float about. If you have a can with gas, please move to upper shelf to prevent spills
- Beware of submerged mooring balls. Harbour is doing his best to keep them marked with plastic jugs, but go slow and keep a good lookout
- OHM fuel (and pumpout) dock may close soon due to water levels, tank up (and empty) fast if you need it. RCYC fuel dock is already closed until around July.
As this affects everyone on the lake, a number of clubs are closed to visitors. A list of clubs and their current status is on http://locca.org/high-water-levels-2019/ If you plan on visiting other clubs it is best to call in advance. Even the clubs that are open, may be full due to boats from the closed clubs looking for refuge.
Cheers
